Kim Kardashian opens up about her own ‘trauma’ after watching Britney documentary
Kim Kardashian (40) recorded for Britney Spears after seeing the much-discussed documentary about the singer’s life. The reality star recognized many aspects of how intense media attention can sometimes be.
When Kim was pregnant with her oldest child, North, she suffered from pre-pregnancy poisoning that caused her to swell and put on a lot. Many magazines at the time went out big with cruel stories about her weight gain. In her own words, Kim cried every night about the news.
“At the time, I felt so insecure when I looked at all the photos of myself online or in magazines,” Kim writes in her Instagram Stories for a number of covers from that time. “I wondered if I would ever get my body back to normal. I was shamed every week on the covers of the magazines. I felt so insecure that I didn’t dare leave the house for months after that. It really broke me up. “
Kim encourages everyone to show understanding and compassion for others rather than slandering or bullying someone. “You just never quite know what someone is going through behind the scenes and I’ve learned from my own experiences that it’s always better to stay friendly.”
For Britney too, the media attention may have been “traumatizing”, Kim thinks. “As public as one’s life may seem, no one deserves to be treated with so much cruelty for entertainment.”
